I never set out to be a politician. It started out with wanting a football pitch for the local school. It seemed like a small thing at the time, but made such a difference to our area. Needing to change or improve things has driven me for over 20 years and I need your number one vote to continue that work.
I was first elected as a Councillor to Dublin County Council in 1991, and re-elected to South Dublin County Council in 1999, 2004 & 2009. In 2011 I was honoured to have been selected to work at national level in Seanad Eireann for the 24th Seanad.
I am in political life to try and make a difference to the lives of people within our country. At this moment a job for the jobless and the many youth who have to emigrate is a major concern of mine. I am an advocate of Small Irish indigenous businesses and I think more initiatives are needed to facilitate their growth in exporting and employment as I see them as a major factor in the growth of our country again. Our youth are some of the most educated and talented in the world and I want to continue to encourage the Irish entrepreneurial spirit.
This is only one of the many issues that personally motivate me but that I think is of vital importance to our economy.
My academic qualifications include a diploma in Community development B.A;.M.A. & Dip. In Montessori Education. I was honoured to be elected as chairperson of Red Rua South Dublin County Councils new Arts Centre.
